• We returned from our cruise on March 4 just in time to witness the start of the COVID epidemic in the U.S. Many of the passengers on the cruise ship, were on a round the world tour and most elected to only go as far as Capetown, RSA and return home. 

• April 16 I had quintuple bypass surgery.  It was Doris' birthday, but of course, she couln't visit me because of COVID.

• Patriots Point re-opended May 15.

Best Picture was "Parasite".  Best actor went to Joaquin Phoenix in "Joker".  Best Actress was Renee Zellweger for "Judy".  Best supporting actor was Brad Pitt Ali in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywod".  Best supporting actress was Laura Dean in "Marriage Story".  Best Director was Bong Joon Lo for "Parasite". 

Super Bowl 54

 Super Bowl 54 saw the Kansas City Chiefs   defeat the San Francisco 49’ers 31-20.   The   game was played on February 2, 2020, at Hard   Rock Stadium in Miami.  This was the Chiefs'   first Super Bowl victory since Super Bowl   IV and their first NFL championship since   joining the league in the 1970 AFL=NFL   merger. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes led   Kansas City to a 12–4 regular season record and the team's third Super Bowl appearance overall. With the emergence of quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, the 49ers finished the regular season with a 13–3 record and advanced to their seventh Super Bowl appearance overall.

The first half of the game was back and forth between both teams, with the game tied at 10 field goal at halftime. In the third quarter, the 49ers began to pull away, with a Robbie Gould and a touchdown run by Raheem Mostert giving them a 20–10 lead heading into the fourth quarter. However, over the final 6:13 of the game, the Chiefs offense completed two touchdown drives with Mahomes throwing touchdown passes to Travis Kelce and Damien Williams, to take the lead just before the two-minute warning. The Chiefs then stopped the 49ers on defense, and a late touchdown run by Damien Williams, as well as a Kendall Fuller interception, sealed the victory and ended the Chiefs' 50-year championship drought as well as earning Andy Reid his first NFL championship as a head coach.  Mahomes was named Super Bowl MVP. 

World Series:

The 2020 World Series was between the American League (AL) champion Tampa Bay Rays and the National League (NL) champion Los Angeles Dodgers. The Dodgers defeated the Rays to win the series in six games for their first championship since 1988.  Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the entire series was played at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, from October 20 to October 27 with the ballpark's seating capacity limited to 25 percent (11,500 fans). The pandemic resulted in the regular season being reduced to 60 games, and the postseason being held at neutral sites instead of at teams' home stadiums. Thus, this was the first World Series to be played at a neutral site, as well as the first since 1944 to be held at only one ballpark and the first since 1993 to be played entirely on artificial turf. It was also the first World Series since 1984 to use the designated hitter for all games.  With 2020 being the inaugural season for Globe Life Field, it became the first ballpark to host the World Series in its first year since Yankee Stadium in 2009. Los Angeles shortstop Corey Seager was named the World Series MVP after batting 8-for-20 (.400) with two home runs, five runs batted in, and an on-base percentage of .556.
